>>At a time when VLNC was not releasing any news in 1998-1999, they issued a press release about a patent issued. Was that the phosphate patent? Didn't Lev show a lot of excitement about this patent, although commercial production was not proven at that time? <<
I knew someone who spoke to Lev at the time. Lev thought then it was the most important patent in VLNC's portfolio, which was why it alone, among all recent VLNC patents, got a press release. It's also quite broad, and covers the use of the phosphate formulation in all other li-ion battery types, a fact that Lev has mentioned before. However, the proof is in the pudding. Mkt-e, along with other battery experts, are skeptical. VLNC will have to produce some exceptional batteries to convince them. Keep in mind, though, that Mkt-e has admitted testing with favorable results VLNC/Alliant military, cobalt-formulation batteries. Lev certainly knows what a good cobalt battery will do. |
