it snowed in the Bay Area this week, pretty unusual. i didn't shovel snow though, because all that cold weather reminded me too much of canada, so i played it safe and stayed indoors :o)
what you up to in terms of screening these days? i've gone to a strict set of rules in looking for potential prospects.
fundamentals: 1. year over year earnings growth greater than 30% 2. year over year revenue growth greater than 50% 3. no debt load
technicals: 1. price within 10% of 52-week high 2. MACD and RSI in position for momentum surge 3. price history either of a solid base, or cup & handle type formation
i'm basically using the buy on breakout rules presented in IBD, and sticking to sell rules of cutting losses on anything that happens to fall 7% below buy point. can't say its been a stellar year so far, but no serious losses, and pool of small to medium gains is making things ok for now.
how do you tackle markets like this, do you wait for signals of turn-arounds; do you short-term trade at all?
what do you think of NTAP, have you ever taken a good look at it? i have a good friend who does a lot of homework, and after being right most of the time, his belief in NTAP has me considering it as a long-term investment.
hope you've been well, i broke my ankle in a couple of places, going in for a metal plate on the fibula tomorrow. take care of the market while i'm gone, if i could ask that of you.
talk with you john :o)
