GX: Q4 Results Strong; Mix Skewed More Towards Capacity Than Services

February 14, 2001 SUMMARY
* Q4'00 PF cash rev's $1.54B ahead of our $1.47B est.
and 17% above Q3. Telecom svs. cash revs ex. I&M, $1.39B
ahead of our $1.35B estimate and 16% above Q3. Adj.
EBITDA $418M ahead of our $367M est. (PF Ex. ILEC & Glbl
Cntr) and up ~10% from $379M in Q3'00.
* Guidance for 2001 & Q1'01 in line w/ previous guidance.
. * Rev. mix in 4Q, more skewed towards capacity sales.
Cap sales 38% of total revs up from 31% in Q3. Cap sales
grew 40% seq. as GX selling larger deals with all
systems in service. Geographic capacity diversity far
better than a year ago; e.g. Atl 15% vs. 2/3s a year
ago. Also big jump in glbl ntwk orders.
* Comml revs down slightly seq. Data products up 30%
seq., but IPC & PL down seq. Data was 59% of total
rev's, vs. 54% in Q3, data svs 33% of data sales vs. 43%
in Q3 as cap sales jumped in Q4'00.
