While looking at the stock price may be a bad idea if you're buying Nokia, I agree it's an even worse idea if you're going to buy Coke. But I'm old fashioned and can't get out of the habit, so I'm unable to buy either one of them right now.

Another failing of mine as a citizen of the New Age is my inability to use PE's based on "earnings" two years out. I understand that it goes a long way toward making things look cheaper, but I just can't bring myself to do it.

As for your assumption that 3G orders will follow from GPRS, it's a reasonable enough supposition, although there are plenty of variables which could throw a wrench in the whole thing. I certainly don't think it comes anywhere near the probability that, say, Coke will sell significantly more of their product 20 years from now than they do today. I don't see how someone investing in Nokia right now is being adequately compensated for the business risks over the next 5-10 years. That could just be because I don't understand the business well enough, but either way I'll just have to wait and hope the price comes down.
