More on uninstalling:

Norton CleanSweep 2000
If a user chooses Symantec CleanSweep to uninstall, monitor, move, archive or transport any of the programs listed at service1.symantec.com, be prepared to lose some .DLL files, not to mention running the risk of corrupting the operating system.

The Norton CleanSweep versions include 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 4.5, 4.10, Deluxe 3.0x, and 2000 version 5.7 for Windows 3.x, 95, 98, and NT 4.0. Presently, the only way around this glitch is DON'T TRY ANY of the listed maneuvers.

I remember the good old days of DOS. Removing programs was a hoot. The deltree command was so powerful.

Like we have been saying, image before you install that new software. I remember many software packages that say to back up data before installing. Because sh*t happens.

You seem to have a role in tech support. I would hate to be a tech...continuos education thinge... with all the OS out there, mainly Windows, man how many still in operation?.....Windows 3.1/11, Windows 95, Windows 98/SE, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows ME, and now Windows XP.

LOL

What a ZOO.
