meat - I think the layoffs themselves were probably a good thing - and the additional changes to the rating process will let the system select out weak players no matter how long they have been around, which is a good way to maintain morale while reducing headcount, since it is performance based.

But they could have simply said nothing, rather than issue a statement which was widely read as a denial.

I actually think that this management team is so unused to dealing with anything but success that they just don't know how to manage expectations. But it hardly matters, the result is reduced credibility.
