If "they" really did this: Corvis (nixed b/c it's proprietary), you know "they" are a collection of incompetent clowns. CORV has SCMR beat on the long haul because SCMR has one weakness: MEMS. SCMR has an ace and it's called Gigernet. Let's see how long it takes before the company figures that out, decides to devote more resources to pushing it, and goes for the distributed "edge" rather than the haul. CORV is developing solitons. When that's ready you can forget WDM. SCMR and CORV ought to merge.
