don't even know where to start except to express my sadness about your plight .......
wonder if there is such a thing as a "Norton's Speed Disk to optimize" for people? sounds as if you're in more need than the boxes....
have never been a collector of comic books because as a youth my Dad's company had, as one of the miriad of products sold, == comic books ==
it is no wonder I turned out to be so ..... think about it ... early childhood was spent watching Dad got to the stock market, and when it closed in early afternoon, play golf every day, with every weekend free .... then he goes into the vending and wholesale business ....
I grow up seeing him do what I'm doing now *(cept for I have quit golferballs) and then, right before I become a teenager ..... all the candy, gum, comic books, etc I want FOR FREE ..... damned if I ever had a CHANCE to amount to anything .....
most saving thing is that I'm not near as intelligent as was he, so in my feeble minded way, I enjoy life, living, and the pursuit of happiness, whereas he worried too much to be able to pluck the fruits of his labor, and be pleased to consume them, from the tree of life ......
but back to the comic books ... I suspect that a sales listing on eBay would enlighten you concerning what they will bring, should you desire to try .... and, unless I'm mistaken, Peter Norton is in his early seventies now .. hey ... Steve and Paul aren't quite spring chickens any more, or Bill either ... or for that matter Paddy and Nemer .....
and now back to the depressing situation ....
as you said, unfortunately I do know that $6k is cheap for care .... it is a reward of small town living in NE Tx that medical care here is great .... for example, Mare had her heart surgery triple bypass in the same hospital in which I was born and in each instance, the doctor is/was a family friend, having excellent skills and training.... of course the doc who delivered me is deceased but our family doc lives next door and is a very close friend ....
the folks here with Campbell Soup up in your neck of the woods all say that the health care situation far surpasses what they had up there in NJ ... what is it ... Cherry Hills ??? think that is right ..
the nursing home where we had Mare's Mom was nicer than most of the apartments in town and the level of care very pleasantly suprised me ...
you could always bring your Mom to Texas ... and when her medication gets lessened some, we could conspire, she and I, on how to spend some of your money ...... think about it .... I'd visit her daily ....
on a more pleasant note I saw one of Dad's old trading pards in the grocery store last week, he is approaching mid nineties, who is currently living in an assisted care facility a couple of miles from me where I have visited him ..... that place is NICE ... hey ... he even has a girlfriend there ..... btw ... we spent ten minutes in the store discussing the market and he reccoed that I buy some TXI and MOT, as he had the day before =====as the price had gotten low enough to be appealing for a long term hold ===== now that made my heart envious and did give me something for which to look forward .....
a couple, good friends of ours, just had to place their daughter in a nursing home due to a totally debilitating stroke last week, so I was pleased to find that, as they had checked out three or four, that the facilities here are as still good ..... I'll check with them this weekend to see what they are doing about Medicare/Medicade because I know that their financial situation isn't great.....
think I'll get on the web and find where I can buy beeswax futures .... at my present rate of consumption, the Slevins have kept a herd of bees busy as bees .....
have a foine trip to Fla ....
  Peace, ol son |
