What you say sounds good, but, in fact, our first responsibility has to be to pay down the national debt, so as not to saddle the fiscal irresponsibility of '80-'92 on the backs of our children and grandchildren. Tax cuts are wonderful if government also reduces spending. But, alas, the opposite occurred during the reigns of Reagan and Bush Sr. At least Bush Sr. realized Uncle Sam couldn't continue to rob Peter to pay Paul. Too bad Peggy Noonan sunk him with her famous "Read my lips ..." line, which Bush had the misfortune to reiterate after she wrote it.
