John,
Actually, many of Dialogic's customers have developed SS7 software
but as a standalone capability for their Dialogic based platforms. This of course is a proprietary implementation suitable only to a particular platform. I would have to assume that Dialogic would be aware of the importance of developing the hooks that enable their customers to take advantage of new NT/SS7 features and capabilities. I have read the recent announcements concerning these new SS7 capabilities but what are the actual target applications that will drive this feature into the telco market? As SS7 is merely a message transport protocol, what types of applications will require this capability. The typical Caller ID apps. are the obvious types of services that could be offered. What other applications are Dialogic and Microsoft looking at to make telcos reach for the checkbook?

Later,
Crash
