I subscribe to your sliding scale. I've mentioned it a couple of times mostly in terms of milestones along it, but, you're right, there's not been much energy around discussing it. I don't know if it would add to our understanding and communication on this subject or not. Or if it would get us off on tangents. I think it was Solon who used the term "privileges" as a kind of demi-right that we award to some who don't have full rights. I kind of like that concept and it goes with the sliding scale. It would be interesting to develop a scale showing key milestones of personhood along with the rights or privileges that go with them. Karen
