>correct me if I am wrong but the story I heard on SCMR is that they sell big systems that cost millions each. So the customers are few and the risk for a big drop in sales is always right around the corner.<

i'm no expert on SCreaMer, but they've got edge products (SN 3000/4000) to OC-3 to OC-192 long- and ultra-long haul (SN 10000) to the core optical switch (SN 16000). current bread & butter is the SN 8000 transport system.

Williams continues to be their largest customer at over 50% of revenue. two other customers were 10+% in the quarter just reported (yet they were apparently different from last quarter's two 10+% customers). i'd venture that 360Networks and Enron are in there somewheres. they've also got a deal with LDCOM to build a nationwide network connecting 20 cities in France (both transport and optical switches).

fwiw, SCreaMer reported 14 customers, up from 10 in the preceding quarter. i know they added CoreExpress, Storm and Vodafone as new customers for the SN 16000, which is expected to be 10-15% of 2001 sales.

i don't own the shares, but if you are considering it, as part of your due dilly, you might want to delve into their vendor financing program. both CoreExpress and Storm have $100M worth ($50M drawn in total). i'd hope that their revenue recognition policy is conservative.

hope this helps,
-chris.
