Google is the best search engine, IMO, because all you have to do is list the words you want to include, in no particular order. Given the way language is structured, people can express a concept using the words in different orders, and Google will give you all pages with the terms you use, regardless of the order. But it used to be very good about putting the pages with the words in close proximity at the top of the list, and it doesn't do that as well as it used to any more.

Another problem is that it cannot do wildcard searches, so airplanes won't give you airplane, and airplane* doesn't work.
