So much of the runup to 5000 was based on speculative enthusiasm. The patient is now terminally ill. We have a frat boy in the White House and we are seeing the fallout of the strange Clinton years. People are looking for mattresses under which to hide their money. Broadband and 3G are viewed now as rich frills. The dotcom revolution has been ambushed. It's totally amazing how ill-conceived Greenspan's actions last year have turned out to be.
