I've always felt that the more available guns are to the local citizens the lower the crime rate will be. Only makes sense actually. Would you break into a house in DC knowing full well that they don't have a gun because only outlaws have them in DC, or would you rather come break into a house in say WI where odds are pretty damn good that the home owner is armed to the teeth and knows how to use them.
