I wonder what the next tipping point will be for an upgrade of computers, and when it will be. I tend to think that most computer purchases now, especially in the US are for upgrades.

I agree that upgrades are big, but new computers are needed as well. Many times a new computer is more cost effective than upgrading, and I might add, less of a problem in making sure that everything works together as advertised.

Microsoft has no new blockbuster software?

Maybe there is nothing that falls in the category of "blockbuster" software, but Microsoft has new versions of Windows coming on line and other software "improvements". All of these will take more horsepower and memory - nothing ever gets simpler, as you well know.

Or is most of the future growth in computing just going to be in servers and storage and network support?

I think it will be in those areas as well as a growing market for individual PCs.
