This is a neat story I heard last weekend:
I heard a man tell the real story about Elian Gonzalez and it was incredible. The press never told it. This was the "fisherman" who found Elian floating in a raft. Elian had been on a raft for 2 1/2 days. The man is from New York and had never been fishing before this. His name is Donato Dalyrymple and he barely spoke any Spanish. His cousin, who does fish, was with him. As a matter of fact, he kept telling Donato that he was going the wrong way, in the ocean. But he kept going.
Actually, Donato was an Evangelist who had traveled the world to Share the Gospel. He had hit a "dry spot," in his life, but look what God did. You would have to hear him and the "coincidences," that were not coincidences actually. As a matter of fact, God was leading him the entire way. Donato said that was the only time he had been fishing and he caught the "catch of his life!" Then of all things, after after being the one to find Elian (who he thought was dead and who moved just when he was thinking that he was), Donato was the one hold Elian when Janet Reno's crew burst in. God had prompted him to get up and drive to where Elian was staying. He had been visiting daily. Thirty Minutes later, Janet Reno's crew broke in the house and pointed a machine gun at two children and Donato. One of them was Elian. It was an incredible story and it does not end there. He was the one that the authorities put a machine gun on. Elian was in his arms. Another child had a machine gun on him as well.
The story does not end there. As a result, the people of Miami unified and many of them voted for Bush in a typically democratic region. God used Donato three times and he continues to be used.
I NEVER doubt God's sovereignty. Sometimes, he has to get our attention, to be able to communicate His direction and purpose. |
