Intel's website has the SPECint2000 (peak) score for the 1.3GHz P4 - 483 vs. 496 for the 1.2GHz Athlon at Spec's website

Very interesting!!

SPEC(peak) allows (I think) different compiler options for each test run, while SPEC(base) requires the same compile options be used for all tests. Notice how Athlon base to peak has a 12% difference, while P4 has only a 2.3% difference? That seems to say that with modern compilers, P4 is much less sensitive to compiler options, compared to Athlon.
