Re. seem to question a second-half recovery.

The traditional definition of a recession occurring is when economic expansion retracts for 2 consecutive quarters. If the US economy fails to recover by Q2 of 2001 or the end of June, I don't see how Greenspan and co. could still claim "no recession....just significant slowing".

Many of us gave FED the benefit of doubt last Nov/Dec when the latter's non-action and hawkish talk were severely criticized by the the majority of the financial community, but looking back, they (the FED) certainly blew it. To add insult to injury, the FED's mistakes look less innocent by the day....
