JRI, first the market is closed Monday, maybe memory will not carry through. Second, that behavior is not universal, but it does not depend too much on the reasons for the fall or advance on expiration, it so happen that when a big move occurs on expiration, some "forced positions" positions are created that require "unwinding" (and usually quite fast), thus the behavior in the following week of a counter move. From time to time, however, these "planned" unwindings are being foiled by exogenous conditions. Like Sadam getting an exorcet missile to be lucky and, G-d forbid, sink one of our ships in the Gulf.
