Anyone: When shorting I find I am at the mercy of the Brokerage .My observations are as follows.

a: Often I am allowed to short new issues (IPO's) a short time ( 1 week and less)

b: On popular issues, if there is a weak positive close above the short price, I get a close out saying they needed the stock.

c: On short positions that are in free fall , I get a close out saying they need the stock.

When starting my account , I was told that they follow the last in, first out rule for calling on the shorts but they dont follow it for large clients. No details are transparent.

I would like to know how the short positions are regulated and what safeguards are there that they are not using my shorts for their own gains.

Thx.
