Yes, Eisenhower did that enforcing the law of the land... but Ike was not totally in favor, when he was General, of total integration of the armed forces, favoring instead small all-black units integrated into larger white units...you will also recall that it was JFK (Katzenbach) who confronted Geo. Wallace at the school house door in Alabama in 63 and who also forced Ole Miss to admit James Meredith.

As I keep telling you, that was pre-64 when the south was solidly Democratic and segregationist... that role is mostly played by conservative Republicans now. And btw, it's the Democratic party, not the Democrat party.
