Telcoms. I beg to differ. LU is a different story. They rely on large sales contracts like the one they just got with VZ. But the VZ, SBC and to a lesser extent FON, WCOM are pretty damn secure at this price (if anything is). They are cash machines and fairly recession-resistant. At PE's in the low teens you can shop and compare but they're all great values. T is the only one I choose to avoid due to their collosal debt. And you're right European telcos are too expensive relative to their US counterparts. DT is actually in the market to BUY a WCOM, Q or FON so I'd rather own the takeover targets but Q is too expensive for my taste. So that leaves VZ, FON and WCOM all attractively priced with PE's around 12. No comparison to DT for these. VZ still my favorite stock (because it's not long-distance) and I've not lost one penny on it throughout all this selling and negativity. $50 base has been as solid as a rock even on the worst news days.
