If Gerorge W Bush chooses to be responsible and daring, Texas style, he can start his speech by saying:
"My fellow Americans and those around the world whose fortunes are tied up with our economy and system, I have personally and massively shorted the Nasdaq, Dow, and Yen. I have required all top cabinet officers to do likewise. I have done this to (1) clear the deck of excesses and falsehoods, (2) prepare the field for Spring planting, (3) lower the bar for the tax reduction to hurdle over, and (4) be responsible to the next generation. I will be criticized for this ..."
Now, that would be a speech to remember, and by generations of grateful investors the world over. Tears will well up from my eyes, and the joy will overwhelm any fear of the abyss, the markets will immediatedly drop to a clearing level, and all will be able to get on with construction, enterprise, and learning. |
