Interesting that with the upcoming convergence technology, the network software will change, especially in the directory. Many firms have already tied customer accounts to telephone number and the published address rather than names and credit card numbers alone.

By going to tdma, cdma, and gsm; you would have the telephone number and address plus the extra security level of your exclusive dedicated channel of transmission. DWDM and 2.4 ghz wireless will be coupled to give us an internet address type of directory in Windows, Novell and other unix operating systems.

Software and hardware will converge also with business application requirement.
