elmatoator you're professionally is involved in wireless business, working for Siemens. On “last mile technology thread “ you are big advocate of dead of fixed connections like optics, DSL etc, despite of what we see around. You think that only wireless is the way to go. Most likely you’re trying to defend your job???). Everybody know that European carriers spent 200 billion for licenses and have serious problem to find another 100 B to build infrastructure . There is only few bitters for new licenses!!!!!in Europe. All wireless IPO are at the low end of the range ,like Orange. At the same time, European carriers are spending were the money are: optics, packet tech, DSL. For example Verizon will spend 18 billion in 2001, of which 13 B on fixed connections. Data networking will represent 20-25% grow incapex ( info available on VZ home page: analysts meeting few weeks ago). All VZ,SBC will double DSL this year , where Bell South says will triple. Canadian fellows know what BellCanada is doing with ATM+DSL, we do not have to convince them. So tell us elmatator another great joke, like the one you say yesterday: NT problems mean that carriers stop invest in fixed connection business
Again congratulation, it was a joke of the year.
