David, I see you found an old journal article that ran about a year ago. I respect Mr. Chao's opinions, but there are several other factors to consider and that I am lobbying for. Let me digest this bit and formulate a response sometime soon. I was going to publish a chart showing the various MPEG compression profiles and resolutions, but got sidetracked.... I'll try to resurect that information for you and let you know my concerns and expectations. By the way, this article is a preview of what you can expect from CBS when they go "on line". I am still in "lurk mode" watching this and the CUBE threads. I find this technology facinating and play around at home with various M-JPEG, MPEG & SSTV modes via amateur radio through oscar satellites. Later George PS.
