Ray- I was not commenting on what is best for the economy is general- believe me, I am well-aware that the volatility we've seen is not good, and, in many ways, totally non-sensicle (sp?), ie., why should underlying asset values fluctuate 10% on total non-news days? Some traders will make money. Some will lose. I don't agree that only the big boys will be successful. They are often emcumbered by a lot of things that smaller players are not, and their "information advantage" in some situations, I believe, does not make up for all of their disadvantages in other areas (ie, getting in and out of large positions without tanking a stock or being noticed, etc)..
