C-Cube customers NDS and Sony.......................... tvinsite.com ASIA NDS Group announced that their latest innovative Chinese-language TV portal system passed a critical evaluation and was approved by the expert committee organized by the CCTV Technology Management Office. The digital TV portal software was jointly developed by NDS and China International TV. It is comprised of a Chinese-language interactive program guide and integrated receiver decoder application software, and is the first and only system of its kind to pass the acceptance test of the CCTV Technology Management Office. EUROPE C-Cube Microsystems announced Sony's selection of C-Cube's Avia@TV silicon for a new generation of satellite television digital set-top boxes to be deployed by Canal Plus. The MediaSat boxes, which have passed compliance testing, will begin shipping in November. To date, Canal Plus has deployed more than 4 million of the digital multimedia set-tops in Europe for its 13 million pay TV subscribers, most still users of analog set-tops.
