No, George), while this might be one factor, IMHO, the major factor is that gold still has a psychological aura, and a rapid rise in its price, unlike the huge rise we had in PT and Pd over the last few years, will increase "inflation expectations", which is almost as bad as increase inflation itself. I would not be surprised if those "politically connected friends", where not strongly "urged" (but never in writing and with full "plausible deniability <g>) to take the gold price depressing positions they have, by the CB's and treasury.
