Wow... I just heard that Dale Earnhart was killed in the final lap at the Daytona 500 today.
I wasn't a NASCAR fan but if there was one driver that I liked, it was Dale Earnhart.
I remember how he pulled along side Jeff Gordon at the Daytona 500 a few years ago and nudged his car slightly up against Gordon's. At first I didn't realize why he was doing that. Then as he pulled away and slowed down, a large donut shape was formed on Gordon's door area made from the black rubber of Dale's front tire!
Earnhart knew that Gordon's car would be headed to the Daytona Museum and he figured he would leave his mark.
Dale had not won Daytona I believe up to that date. The following year I believe he finally won it.

I tried to watch the race today but thought maybe weather had postponed it. I looked on all the networks but couldn't find it?
Anyone see it? What channel was it on?

It terrible.
Such a shame.
Less than one lap away...
He was perhaps the most popular driver.
