there are FEW risks and dangers in being short in a BEAR market

I think I have a problem with that on several levels. Bear markets are notorious for explosive rallies. There are a lot of newbies that lurk this thread and may infer that SHORT (in caps) means significantly short with a large sold naked call position on margin. A prescription for a disaster given the rapidity of bear market rallies.

Moreover, there is this question about a bear market. While no one would argue against one having existed since March '00, there is a legitimate question now. Some would argue that the bear ended at the beginning of January and we are now in a choppy basing period prior to the beginning of the next bull phase. Personally, I don't know, and will let the economy and market tell me.

AFTER A RUN, IF WE GET A RUN, CONSIDER GOING SHORT

As long as that's done with moderation, I would agree. Certainly that's what I did toward the end of January. I expect other opportunities will present themselves.

not sure what you are smoking
