Combjelly Re... Admittedly having another license took a lot of the sting out of it, but still.<<<<<

While the fine sounds steep, you must remember that in Texas, I would consider it highly unlikely, GW would even have been stopped, as Texas was a very liberal state as far as drinking and driving. You see all of these movies where guys have a rack of guns by the back windshield in the cab of their truck, and would be driving around with a beer in their hand and a gun on their hip. I was describing Wis. in early 70s , and I don't believe mandatory sentencing for a DWI for the first offense went into law until the 90s . In GW's case, Mass. already had suspension of license and 150 dollar fine by 76. I would assume since GW had a drinking problem until 85 but no DWI in Texas, the main reason might have been the social acceptance of drinking and the the laxness of texas DWI laws, rather than GW didn't do any what we would consider now drunk driving in Texas.

Now what in my responses gave you the impression that I don't take education seriously?

I hope you will note that I was answering AMY's post and she questioned mine. I answered that I didn't know about her's and combjelly's but I was serious. I see you also had god grades, about a 3.2; good but it looks like you were sluffing off a little. (just kidding) I went to the UW in the early 60S but I have no idea of the classes I took in any given yr. and the grade. Frankly I assumed you were younger because most people lose their strong liberal tendencies by 40; that is why I asked about first grade.
