Lucent is supposed to spin off AGERE (about 20% of the shares) sometime near the end of March. I've seen some recent articles where some people have said that this isn't the time to come out with a technical IPO when that sector is down like it is. Some people thought that the initial offering price might be around $20 but after all this bad stuff has been coming out concerning LUCY, a lot of analysts think that the price may be more like $9 a share. That of course would really dig into the cash they thought they would raise with the IPO.

LUCENT is presently saying they will give out the rest of the AGERE shares to LUCENT shareholders sometime around August, but I haven't seen any ratios that are firmed up.

I've also seen recent articles saying that because of the current climate, LUCENT may not go through with the IPO at the end of March. They may pull back.

Anybody else seen articles like that?
