Right up front, I try to be a Christian, OK? Where and when I fail, the true principle of forgiveness says that my transgressions will not have me burn in hell.

That said, I thought we were talking about the Second Amendment to the Constitution. It follows the one that makes sure "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Under that principle, it is perfectly fine for people to use whichever Bible, Talmud, Koran or whatever authority they choose and the government has nothing to say about it.

Clearly, YOUR message is that the laws YOU like are sacrosanct, and the laws YOU DON'T need to be changed. The very reason that we have a Constitution and the Bill of Rights is to make sure neither one of us holds sway outside of the principles forged there.

I'm not going to contrast the Bible and the Constitution because they are not of the same realm. Further, I'm not a religious scholar. I have my own ideas about religion, and no matter how well I state them somebody will find something to argue with. The Constitution has provisions for revision, but it purposely makes revision so difficult that it can be done only with the greatest of effort and agreement.
