"But we probably have two or 3 more years before that starts."

I don't disagree that politicians, and most business executives, when faced with a choice of addressing a problem which may require unpopular actions, or putting off addressing the problem, will almost always choose to postpone. Even if this decision means that when the problem can no longer be ignored it will be much worse.

Managing for the short term at the expense of the long term is the American Way. "Not on my watch" seems to be the imperative.

So, as you point out, it may be possible that we have a few more years until the chit really hits the fan.

What are your thoughts on the warning signs. How will we know when it is probably two or three months, or two or three weeks before it starts.
