hi judy "and still it hangs at missing operating system" did you format? read on.... i'm not sure that i can be much help on this topic without rolling up my sleeves and doing the install myself. i told you i tend to go overboard on the up front prep work, then take it nice and slow. <g> so i can't be like tech support for you, but i can try to offer some ideas. from the mocrosoft knowledge base support.microsoft.com forum 'missing operating system' question and answers sysopt.earthweb.com suggestion to try bootdisk.com peteweb.com "you need DOS" pd.com missing some files that would normally be needed to boot the OS easydos.com then there's this.... "Sounds very logic. The reason why you get a message " missing operating system" is because there is no operating system. Format each partition and check if they are active. Reinstall an operatingsystem. With your pc on: load the start-up diskette. Turn the pc off and on again and watch." computing.net good luck :) mark
