Nortel's Roth has just finished his speech to the Canadian Club in Calgary (that's Calgary, Alberta, Canada to those in the US who know nothing about their neighbour to the north). Roth likened his performance to that of Greenspan, who didn't see the US slowdown coming as late as Nov 15th last year. Greenspan went from raisng rates to lowering rates dramatically in the space of a few weeks. Roth said that NT will emerge from the current situation a stronger company. He said that no one is better positioned, and that he has largely met his objectives set this time last year. The questions is: do we believe him. Robert
