"Built a computer for a guy who wanted NT 4 for his OS. Never used NT before, so it was a good learning experience. What turns out to be really interesting about this Win NT, is that today I installed three different mobos to do some testing, using the same hard drive (running NT 4). Started out with a BE6-II, swapped it for a KA7-100, and finally, shifted over to a KT7A-RAID. NT, with Borg-like resilience, adapted to these mobos sporting different chipsets, without as much as a hiccup or burp. The best you can hope for when changing mobos running Win98, would be one of those little burps, accompanied by an acidic regurgitant, rising forcefully, and slamming up against the upper palate, as well as into the nasal passage, before sliding back into the scary depths, leaving a bad aftertaste and rotten breath. I'm using Windows NT 4.0 for general everyday testing from now on." |
