Steve,
Don't doubt for one minute that both the Saudis and Kuwaitis were pushing for this type of action. For this we will get lower energy prices quicker. Saddam in a box is the key to maintaining middle east peace. Arab leaders may not be able to say this publicly but privately they turn on the oil spigot. Clinton was so interested in Israel/Palestine peace, he totally ignored the Iraq problem but now that those peace talks are history traditional foreign policy matters can be dealt with. We will find as we move away from the Clinton years that many of these foreign policy matters have been ignored as Bill tried to be the world's peacemaker rather than the commander in chief of the US. Bush is doing fine so far. mike
