Intel will have the exact same problem in a year : desktop PIII stuck at 1.33GHz on .13, palomino going north 2GHz on .13/soi for about 20% higher power consumption making mobile-1.5GHz possible. One may say that Intel will do just fine with mobile PIII on .13u, but I predict the frequency delta will be about the same as k6's vs PIII is now. Intel will dig the sub-watt market as much as they can but that won't save their whole mobile ass.

Hopefully, AMD's desktop chunk won't be k6-ized and the Hammer/Thouroughbred duo will maintain the actual lead.

Actually, strong x86-64 support and fast HyperTransport apparition could catapult AMD as a huge corporation but that won't happen, because we live in reality, not in niceguy's mind :)

However the image of the company will progress through next years, that's why I'm all stock.
