Rape is an act of violence but it is also an act of sex. It often does fulfill a biological urge of the rapist. I don't agree with those who say "rape isn't about sex it is about violence". Rape is about both. Yes the girl was a victim of violence, she was also used for sex and that made it a worse crime they would have gotten in less trouble if they just beat her up but that wasn't what they were looking for.

Tim,

If its also an act of sex, why is it necessary to be violent? Why is it necessary to do it with a child? Why is performed without the consent of the other person?

Maybe in a weird, twisted way it is an act of sex...but barely.

One of the most disgusting things I have ever read was the case history of a child rapist in Portland, OR. In his last "act of sex", he abducted a child of 4, raped him, kept him tied up and hung on a hanger in his closet during the day while he was at work. Then that night, when he came home, he raped the child throughout the night, telling him that he was going to kill him in the AM. Then that morning before he went to work, he choked the boy to death and then thru mouth to mouth, brought him back to life, raped him again and then killed him a second time.

Does that fit your definition of the sex act as well?
