Interesting perspective -- but the difference is that coercive indoctrination of youth to accept left wing views is a myth or, at best, an odd abberation in one or two California communities - whereas the organized effort to force children to recite the pledge of allegience, or to pray, in public schools has been going on for decades and is undergoing a revival of sorts under the sponsorship of the religious right and other conservative groups who are apparently worried that the failure to indoctrinate from an early age might lead to independent thought.

Each political party has its extremes and extremists that, when scrutinized by forward thinking people, leave a lot to be desired. Lest we forget the hate-filled GOP conventions of the mid-90's. As they say, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
