Perhaps you have never studied church-sponsored schools. Indoctrination is taken for granted: It's a school sponsored by a church.
My point is that schools are places of indoctrination. They will teach young minds about the preferability of a religion, style of government, specific ideals, a specific civilization, "the way to think", if you will. It is the nature of schools. The change in our education system over the post-war period has not been to purge the method (teaching ideals). That has been the smokescreen. No, the change has been in the particular beliefs that have been mandated. Many of us-myself included-consider it to be a tragic corruption of the system of education. Those on the Left seem to confirm that by public denial, as in your last post.
My concerns are that the eventual reform that will be swept in by a vast majority who are tired of whacko environmentalism, junk science, anti-technology, and the many other forms of PC, may not be a return to original ideals. Cultural revival seldom is. Rather it leads to inquisitions, crusades, oppressions, and other undesirable "solutions". But I see the New American Left hell-bent for the cliff-edge, as all radical/emotional movements have been before them. My problem is that-while I won't be sorry to see them go-I may not be any more satisfied than they are with that which takes their place...
BTW: Nice to see at least one political thread coming back to life. It's good discussion, even in non-election years. |
