The smart ones see one coming and decide to bite the bullet by throwing all the dirty laundry in a Q or 2. The slow ones, like slow investors like myself <g>, cling on to the hope something better will turn up, thus prolonging the inevitable demise. No doubt we ve heard of the "water torture." The question is, are there enough smart ones around to bite the bullet. Recession capitulation, if you will.

With regard to the deficit and the bond mkt, I thought the reason the long bond has been so low even while Chmn Greenspan was raising the rate is b/c of the supply and demand issue. Isn't that indicative of the scenario that the govt was printing less? I would be interested if you would offer some data to back up your claim that the govt has been issuing more bond.
