OMD, I'm using the Sony Playstion 2 as my DVD player for now. It has an optical output, etc..If you decide to buy one make sure it has component video outputs, optical, s-video etc. I think that soon we'll be able to record DVDs (technology is here but very expensive). IT will be great to be able to put the family archives on disk and not worry about tape deterioration. DVD audio is just around the corner as well as SACD (super audio compact disk)....sheeeeeet dooood, I'd be tempted to wait it out or buy one cheap to get you through. I don't really like to watch movies more than once with the exception of a very few

it says $299 but I bet they'll sell it cheaper. I really like that site. PEople there are very helpful and the prices are the best on the NET from what I've found
