"Yesterday, Mr. Roth said a routine meeting with sales managers last week forced the company to alter its financial forecasts."

Somehow this doesn't sound right. Suppose I were a salesman for a large corporation and I suddenly notice that halfway into the quarter that my numbers are off by $1 billion dollars. Do I wait for the next ROUTINE meeting with my supervisors to advise them of the shortfall or do I get on the phone and dial every extension at the company to find out what the f%#& is going on?

Like I said, somehow that statement just doesn't sound right.
