INTC to cut costs -- WSJ

Intel (INTC: news, msgs) is instituting a cost-cutting program, which will include cutting discretionary spending by 30 percent, according to the Wall Street Journal. The report adds that Intel is not planning lay-offs, but plans to cut its overall headcount through attrition. Company representatives could not be immediately reached for comment by CBS.MarketWatch. New hires will be limited to critical positions, reported the Journal, while raises for senior managers will be deferred. The stock is trading down $2.19 at $32.19. A spike in the shares to around $33.25 after the Journal reported the news was short lived.
