Can anyone tell me the best way to selectively save data from my hard drive ...Documents programs, Internet explorer favorites Etc.. I do have a cd-writer... Steve I use floppy disks and also a Zip disk but if the CD is easier that's sounds good also. About the scanner you think is the problem. Have you disconnected it? Have you run a search for all files and folders pertaining to the suspected culprit and deleted all? You could also go into the registry and delete all the keys referring to this scanner.If you're planning on a reformat you've got nothing to lose even if you create a problem. Ed
