H.O.T. Serves Euro Shoppers With Abekas 6000
MENLO PARK, Calif., Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Accom® (OTC Bulletin Board: ACMM - news), today announced that European home-shopping channel H.O.T. (Home Order Television) has placed orders for five Abekas® 6000 MultiFlex(TM) video servers. H.O.T. operates in Germany, Belgium, Italy and Great Britain.
On the air in five languages, 24 hours a day and seven days a week, H.O.T. screens 20 hours of live programming every day, with the emphasis on interaction between the home audience and the presenters.

The Abekas 6000 has up to eight symmetrical input/output channels that can be configured in any combination by the operator at any time. H.O.T.'s servers are used for VTR replacement, for live playout of packshots, jingles and clips, and in a production server role. Each 6000 server also has a channel dedicated to the graphics department for use as a stills store.
For packshot playout, the ability of the Abekas 6000 to play clips both forwards and backwards is an important aspect of its versatility, says Stubenvoll. ``We record the product on a rotating turntable during the show, then recap at the end by showing it again. Because the 6000 plays backward and forward, we can play the clip for as long as we need to, and we save on storage space.''
Another crucial advantage of the Abekas 6000, according to Stubenvoll, is its VTR-like hardware control panel, which makes it very simple to use. ``Training time is very important to us, and with the control panel and the intuitive way it handles video, audio and mattes in clips, we can train operators to be confident on the 6000 very quickly.''

The Abekas 6000 MultiFlex DTV Server is one of the latest digital disk recording systems from Accom, designed for mission-critical on-air broadcast operations. Accom(R) Announces Fourth Quarter Results
MENLO PARK, Calif., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Accom, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: ACMM - news), today reported results for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2000. Revenues totaled $8,256,000 compared to revenues of $6,315,000 for the quarter ended December 31, 1999. The Company reported a net loss of $642,000, or $0.06 per share, for the quarter ended December 31, 2000, compared to a net loss of $1,697,000 or $0.17 per share, for the same period in 1999.
Revenues for the twelve months ended December 31, 2000, were $33,517,000 compared to revenues of $32,969,000 for the twelve months ended December 31, 1999. Net income for the twelve months ended December 31, 2000, was $1,967,000, or $0.16 per share on a fully diluted basis, compared to a net loss of $2,595,000, or $0.26 per share, for the twelve months ended December 31, 1999. Net income for the twelve months ended December 31, 2000 included a pre-tax gain of $2,888,000, or $0.20 per share on a fully diluted basis, on the sale of the ELSET virtual set product line in January 2000.
